Big Foot

No, not that Big Foot. These Big Feet.

These are the Fiber Trends clogs I've been working on. Can we say "easy peasy"? There's some counting involved, which threw me (I have a hard time keeping track of what I'm doing), but if the count didn't come out right, I fudged it. Hey, they're going to be felted - hopefully you won't notice. The yarn is some Philosopher's Wool that never made it to the sweater for which it was intended. Now for the problem. I have a front-loading washing machine, and it has become apparent to me that you can not felt anything in a front-loader. I've put them in twice with jeans, and they're still waaaaayyy too big. I guess that bodes well for my wool sweaters when they need washing. Someone said to boil the clogs (can't wait to smell that), and then beat them. Sounds like too much trouble to me, but I may try it.
We're off to Tifton, Georgia this evening so the man of the family can do some business with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, affectionately known as ABAC. It's a 6-hour drive, so we're heading out tonight to get past Atlanta, and then will resume our trip in the morning. I'm taking yarn for more clogs and a purse. 12 hours of knitting time total - woo-hoo!
On a side note - I'm reading a really good book - The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri. It's been sitting on my bookshelf for months because I didn't think I'd like it. Not that I had any clue what it was about! I'm really enjoying it - you should give it a try.

Yes, they do require some counting! Almost more concentration than a lace pattern. (Or not....)
I don't know what to tell you about the front-loader & felting. I've heard it can be done. Maybe you have a friend or relative with a top-loader who would let you use theirs? You could always promise them a pair!

Do you have a friend with a top loading machine? Mine is a top loader and I'm not looking forward to the day it dies. :(

I, too, have heard felting can be done in a front loader, but I don't have experience there. I know a lady who felts in her bathtub using a clean toilet plunger--clean as in has never been inside a toilet!

Catching Up

First things first - you might have noticed I've changed the name of the blog. Knitting NonPareil was appropriate at one time, but I don...
