Over The Mountain

According to Bowen, I'm not over the hill, I'm over the mountain. I think he was trying to make me feel better about having a birthday. Again. Like they say, beats the heck out of not having one.
We had a cake at work:Obviously we didn't put a candle on for each year. The air conditioning was not functioning that day, and 46 candles is a lot of heat. I took Tuesday off, in honor of me, and spent the day at the pool with the big boys (okay, the 5 and 7 yr. old grandsons). We went to Western Sizzlin' for my free birthday dinner that night with John's parents, our birthday tradition. I must say, it was a fun, relaxing day, perfect in every way. I wasn't as excited about my birthday this year, meaning there wasn't any countdown and I didn't constantly remind everyone that the big day was approaching. That way I didn't feel any guilt over buying myself my own birthday presents. Well, some of them. Sometimes it's just easier that way! But yes, there were lots of birthday goodies:
1. Indigo seeds for future fiber dyeing, from me, to me. (no, she doesn't have any more this year, but you can go to Companion Plants to get seeds or plants.)
2. Nut for my spinning wheel, which has mysteriously disappeared. From me, to me.
3. Extra bobbin for wheel. From me, to me.
4. Necklace and earrings, from Laner, to me. And yes, I do look HOT in them - ha-ha!
5. Handmade beaded bookmarks, from Caro, to me.
6. Homemade Buckeyes (pnut butter balls to you non-Ohioans) from Susan, to me.
7. 1 pound of Corriedale natural roving, from me, to me.
8. 1 pound of Corriedale fawn roving, from me, to me (from.
9. 10 skeins Peruvian Quechua, in rich olive (elann.com), from me, to me, to make this:
10. Glee!
There were other gifts, and singing, and thunderstorms and lightning. What more could a girl ask for?
