Summer Knitting

Because everyone wants to knit with wool when the temperature exceeds 100 degrees F. I must be crazy.

I finished the Flower Basket shawl I started just a little while back, using my handspun. I bought the roving the Christmas before last and have had it sitting around, just waiting for an easy project. This is the 3rd Flower Basket Shawl (pattern by Evelyn Clark) that I've made. It's so easy you could almost do it in your sleep. Almost.

In other news, I sold this headboard and frame:
for this bed from Ikea: What I really wanted was this bed from Charles P. Rogers:

but the $970 difference just didn't sit well with my husband.

Notice all the different paint colors on the walls in the first picture? I was having difficultly picking out a color. Much difficulty. I finally came across a picture in a magazine with the bedroom I wanted, so I went with it. White. Plain white. Or rather, Clean White. I painted the ceiling "Breath of Blue", which in most light looks white. If I never paint another ceiling in my lifetime, it'll be too soon. I'll sell my cat and my husband's motorcycle so I can pay for a painter next time.

The bad news is that when I went to put the bed together last night (after painting for two days straight) it became apparent that my husband had failed to pick up the midbeam for the bed. Mind you, the nearest IKEA is hours away. I cried.

The good news is that we are taking a trip to Atlanta this weekend, where I will not only get the midbeam for the bed, but I'll also do my best to find a black armoire to go in the same room. The moral of this story is: Don't make me mad or I'll spend more money!

Looks great! I hope you show another picture when the room is finished.

I really like the bed. What bedding will you use? You can really go alot of directions with the style of the bed and white walls. Are you keeping the dresser and end tables?

Hi, Just learned how to knit about a month ago from a group that meets weekly at our local library. Is there a pattern or instructions that you used for your shawl? If so, could you direct me to where to get it?
Thanks so much,

Lovely shawl. I'm going to make this one some day.

I also love the bed. I have a brass one that I love. It's my second.

Catching Up

First things first - you might have noticed I've changed the name of the blog. Knitting NonPareil was appropriate at one time, but I don...
