I Just Love Me Some Presents!

Woo-hoo! I participated in Sew, Mama, Sew's 2nd annual giveaway again this year, but almost too late! I was part of the giveaway last year, giving away a handknit chevron scarf, made with my hand-dyed fiber. This year I barely made it into the foray, and all I did was enter a few contests. I just haven't been keeping up with the blog thing lately. I was choosy as to what contests I entered - I had no interest in winning something just for winnings sake. That, in my opinion, would just be rude and greedy. I tend to be an obnoxious know-it-all, but I try to stop before I get to rude and greedy. And yes, I snagged something - not just something, but something I really wanted - a tea wallet from Carly, up in Ohio. (Carly is probably outside right now, trying to shovel her driveway clear of snow).
Ain't it cute? She also included some fat quarters - totally cool - and one can never have enough fat quarters.

Just for being so nice, I think I'll send her a gift back. So Carly, sometime next week when you're laid up in your recliner with a sore back and a fervent wish to see spring again, you'll be getting a package in the mail.
On a side note, I found it interesting that I won this particular gift. Carly is a mom, a part-time children's librarian and she lives in north central Ohio. I am from north eastern Ohio (really not that far from Carly), am a mom and I work in a library. And I drink tea. Okay, I'm just assuming that Carly drinks tea, but humor me. Don't you just love all this giving and receiving?
Go check out Carly's etsy store for your last minute Christmas giving.

I'm feeling a bit lazy right now. Instead of cleaning or doing laundry this afternoon (it's our short day at work) I'm going to sit here and knit. I bought Ysolda Teague's Ripley pattern, and I'm going to use this yarn.

It's my hand-dyed 100% merino wool bulky, and it's like butta. I sure hope it turns out okay.
I should be making a winter bonnet and a woolen shawl for tomorrow's Victorian Christmas at the Agrirama. I found a great site with lots of info and some free patterns, but the fireplace is going right now, and I'm cuddled up with heating pad, too. If I get up to sew, I'll freeze. I know, I know, I live in south Georgia, USA, home of the gnat and great weather, but today it was 43 degrees when I got home at 3pm. Yikes! So I may (big may) get the bonnet made (winter slatted bonnet) but the nearest fabric store is an hour away and I'm so not getting in my car and driving there for a bit of wool to make a shawl. I sure wish I had saved a shawl or two for myself after I knitted them. doh! As far as I know I'll be working inside, so I guess I just may have lucked out! John bought his first pair of overalls - ever - and will be helping to make cane syrup. That ought to be interesting. I plan to get some photos, so stay tuned!

I think your hat is going to be wonderful when you get it done and I can picture myself coveting it.

First things first - you might have noticed I've changed the name of the blog. Knitting NonPareil was appropriate at one time, but I don...
